Based on the "Annotated African American Folktales" by Henry Louis Gates Jr. & Maria Tatar, "Maria and the Brothers Gates" chronicles the tale of two brothers who, by mistake, release characters from their Grandfather's magic book. The Brothers (Henry & Louis Gates) must work together with their cousin Maria, to learn about each released spirit, in order to mend broken bonds & bring them home to the book.
